Music has existed since the beginning of humankind. It awakens something in our hearts, connecting us to one another and God. It also influences the way we think, feel, and act.
In the New Testament, Paul encouraged the Ephesians (and us) to “be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ”(Eph. 5:18-20 ESV).
Worshiping through music can strengthen us, convict us, and restore us. It can also give us peace, joy, harmony, and intimacy with God. In other words, ministering through music can change and transform our lives.
